Stebbing’s three specialist recording studios house a unique collection of digital and analogue equipment, all carefully selected and maintained to achieve the highest standard of audio quality – whatever a client’s requirements. Their Pro Tools HD3 Accel and Studer A820 multitrack recorders, along with their collection of highly-prized vintage microphones, musical instruments and customised recording equipment, make for a studio experience like no other.
Studio one is the centre’s flagship recording space and at an impressive 120sq metres it is arguably the Southern Hemisphere’s largest purpose-built recording facility.
Its unique design with floating floor (which sits on a bed of river stones), offers a warm and clear sound and is perfect for all types of recordings.
The studio’s clients range from live rock bands to 50+ piece orchestras and it can comfortably accommodate up to 80 adults standing.
The space boasts a huge 6 metre (or 20-ft) stud with two spacious isolation booths, as well as a variety of both vintage and modern outboard processors, microphones and instruments; including a Yamaha C7 9ft Grand Piano, Fender Rhodes electric piano and a Hammond C3 Organ.
In the control room is a combo of Pro Tools and a Studer A820 multitrack with a Quad 8 Coronado mixing desk. This ensures tracking and mixing is carried out to only the highest standards – whatever a client’s preferred workflow.
Studio 2 is Stebbing's second largest space with a recording room floor area of 8.8 x 4.7 metres and a 3.5 metre stud. A multiple function room, Studio 2 caters to a huge variety of clients, including small groups, solo artists, TV and radio commercial work, as well as audio post production projects. Audio restoration of vinyl and other formats also takes place in this studio, along with mastering for CD, vinyl and digital platforms. Tape transfers can also be completed in this space, and with a tape baking service on site the team can also treat humidity-challenged vintage tape where required, so that it may live again.
Studio 3 is SRC's smallest purpose-built recording facility. With its compact 2 person voice-over booth it is ideal for solo artists and audio post production projects.
